Daily Review #19

Today was not a good day for my relationship Firefox. I downloaded the 3.6b and have been in a world of hurt. So much that I went and started tweaking Safari with Pith Helmet and Glims. Then I came to my senses and went back to Firefox 3.5.5.

Interesting tidbits from around the web

  • MacLitigator – A site for and by lawyers and their staff using mac. Interesting because they have a different take on how to use software. Found because they talk about importing Journler to MacJournal, which I did because Journler is dead.
  • Here’s a Nickel, Kid – A classic Dilbert strip. TabMixPlus restored 37 tabs from who knows how long ago, this was one of them.
  • Organized – I thought I was going to go with something like this. I’ve used iCal Agenda before, and a widget. Widgets aren’t great because I have to hit F12. I ended up going with iCalBuddy and GeekTool (hasseg.org’s custom build of GeekTool), and a bunch of tweaking, but I’m happy, I have a 7 day agenda on my desktop.
  • adva cmsIstvan put me on to this little gem. Sven Fuchs and co. are plugging along on a highly modular, very slick CMS for rails. If you decide to play with it, run “rake adva:install:all” to get analystics, wiki, gallery, etc.
  • Wire your House with Ethernet Cable – Lifehacker points to an instructable on fishing Cat-5 or 6 through your walls. I’d love to do this, or I’d love the time and patience to do this. If I move my office into the basement I might not have a choice.
