Daily Review #1

Today was weird. Woke up and it was in the 40s, was in the high 70s around lunchtime and it’s 60 and dropping right now. It’s also day 2 of paleo/primal eating. I’m working my way through Primal Blueprint, rock out with your grok out.

Went to another FreeNI meeting today at Occoquan. Met a couple of women who were representing their church with meeting space large enough to accomodate 600 people (in chairs!). Like BNI without the rules, and fees.

Finished the seminar portion of the Get Clients Now!™ program. Taking a course led by Donna Feldman as part of my facilitator training. Makes marketing suck less, much less.

Got my Google Wave invitation, finally. Not sure what all the fuss is/was about.

Interesting tidbits from around the web

  • TimeScroller – very useful little dashboard utility for mac that shows a number of different timezones and lets you scroll the times to see what it would be in a particular zone. Used this all the time pairing with Istvan.
  • Call to Action Buttons – I’m not a designer, I don’t even play one on TV but I’m keeping up with stuff like this so I’ll hopefully make better decisions when I’m talking to real designers.
  • RepositoryHosting – I mentioned in my tools post that I use gitolite to host my own git repositories, but have been thinking about taking them online. This seems like a simple alternative to github’s downtime, codaset’s lack of published pricing and everyone trying to be way more than just a decent private git host. Sure, they have trac too, I won’t hold that against them yet.
  • 7 Things to Ask Your Clients for Besides Money – common sense, but sometimes it needs to be said, or reminded.
